Overview
Never alone is a puzzle platformer developed and published by Upper One Games for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox One. It tells the story of a young Inupiaq girl Nuna, and the arctic fox that befriends her. The player guides the pair through a variety of environments using each of their skills to safely traverse the landscape. The game also features local cooperative play where each of the players control one of the two playable characters. Another notable addition to the game is documentary style movie shorts that act as the games collectible, they provide insight into the culture of the Inupiaq people and are quite educational in nature.
Gameplay
The game features both single-player and cooperative modes. In single-player, the player will play as both Nuna and the fox, and will switch between the two on the fly. In cooperative mode, one player plays as Nuna and the other as the fox, the two players will need to work together in order to solve puzzles and platform through the environments.
Nuna can jump up and climb small ledges, ropes and ladders, cling to the ground for cover when the wind blows, push movable objects, and throw a bola at obstacles in order to destroy them. The fox can jump and clamber up taller ledges, lower ropes for Nuna, wall jump to access even higher ledges, and can also cling to the ground when the wind blows.
